About Universal Converter

A unit converter built because the existing ones had too many ads and not enough units.

Why this exists

Most unit converter sites make you pick a "from" unit and a "to" unit and read one result at a time. That's fine if you already know what you're converting to — but half the time you don't, you just want to see a value in every unit that could plausibly matter. So this tool shows every result in a category at once: pick "From," type a number, and every other unit in that category updates immediately.

How the numbers are calculated

All conversions happen in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, so results are instant and your input never leaves your device. Where a conversion factor has an internationally defined exact value (an inch is exactly 2.54 cm, an international mile is exactly 1.609344 km), the tool uses that exact value rather than a rounded approximation. Where a factor genuinely varies by source — the size of a "cup" in cooking measurements, for instance — the guide on the homepage explains which convention is used and why.
